Construction of the Monte L. Bean Museum addition took place on an active college campus. The new space includes a two-story atrium with towering stone columns to enhance the stature of a 2 giraffe exhibit, learning centers, design studios, a gift shop and two large exhibit halls housing the Boyd K. Packer and Morris Bird exhibits. The exterior features mountain valley stone tying the structure to other buildings on the Brigham Young University campus. This honed finish quartzitic stone was selected for its local history and the natural motion it creates.
