Remodel and Seismic
Owner: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
Architect: Bott Pantone Architects
Location: Montpelier, ID
Size: 10,500 square feet
Built in 1917, the historic Montpelier Tabernacle presented unique challenges that were mitigated by our skilled team in collaboration with the owner, architect and subcontractors. The biggest challenge facing the restoration team was providing a seismic upgrade to the building without seriously impacting the historical nature of the building by utilizing a “center-core seismic system. 4” diameter holes were drilled from the tops of the walls, and into the foundations approximately 4’ apart. The holes were filled with steel reinforcing rods and grouted with a special epoxy.
