This years leadership conference service project was the extreme makeover of the transitional housing at Your Community Connection in Ogden. There are nine apartments at the YCC that domestic violence survivors use to get back on their feet and they were in need of some TLC.
Our team arrived on site as the families were leaving for their daily activities. We split up into teams of 7-9 and each took on their own apartment. We unloaded all the belongings, ripped out the carpet, painted all the walls, installed new carpet, and reloaded all the apartments in 9 hours.
All throughout the day employees kept running off to Home Depot to buy things like new ceiling fans, new outlets, and new towel bars with their own money. Another employee organized a toy drive and got mountains of toys to donate to the child care center on site. It was a great day and made a huge difference in the lives of the families that call these apartments home.
Also a special thanks the Wall 2 Wall for the carpet, Stauffer Painting and Sherwin Williams for the paint and painting help, In-n-Out flooring for the carpeting help, Taylor Electric for the new lights in the thrift shop, and Jack B Parson for lunch.
